He is a member of the Appraisal Institute and CCIM Institute and is qualified and experienced in commercial, industrial and residential real estate appraising. Work Experience

Principal Real Estate Investors, Des Moines , IA

Prepare and review internal and external appraisals for Debt and Equity National Portfolios in core property groups: industrial, retail, multi-family residential, and office. These reviews cover appraisal reports prepared for Principal’s general portfolio, Principal Bank, foreign and domestic third-party managed accounts, and for commercial mortgage-backed security (CMBS) pools.

Retail sales and industry analysis

      • Tracking and analyzing retail sales, financial data and merchandising trends (e.g., “Impact of Super-centers on Grocery anchors”) for major national retailers in discount, grocery, drug sectors;
      • Identifying and analyzing trends in the development of new retail formats (e.g., “Lifestyle” centers);
      • Creating and maintaining national database on acquisitions, sales, developmental profit, land sales, capital costs and trends within the regional mall industry nationwide.

Retail demographics and markets

      • Developing internal procedures for assessing the relative balance of demand and supply for new grocery store development combining demographic data, supply and sales data;
      • Implementing use of demographic and geographic information system (GIS) data for commercial mortgage underwriting;
      • Implementing use of Trade Dimensions store-level database for grocery store and drugstore market share statistics.


Property experience includes investment-grade industrial, office, retail, and multifamily projects in the United States. Specific experience with major retail properties includes: Houston Galleria (TX), Boise Town Square (ID), University Village (WA), Del Mar Center (CA), General Growth Properties regional mall portfolio, Hamilton Square Mall (TN), Country Club Plaza (Kansas City, MO), Waikelee Center (HI), Northpoint Mall (GA), Quakerbridge Mall (NJ), Natick Center (MA), Taunton Square Mall (MA), and others similar in quality and size throughout the United States.

Colliers International – Turley Martin

Supervised commercial appraisal and consulting department of commercial brokerage firm; prepared and reviewed appraisal and consulting reports for predominantly industrial, retail and office properties located in the St. Louis metropolitan area serving financial and corporate clients for lending, periodic asset valuation, estate planning, and tax appeal purposes.

Equitable Real Estate Investment Management

Responsible for periodic valuations of existing properties; prepared quarterly financial analysis of renovation and/or expansions of regional mall properties; prepared valuations of investments for acquisition and/or origination of new Debt or Equity investments.

Property level experience: Office, industrial, retail and multifamily properties located in the Midwestern region of the United States including the IBM portfolio of regional malls managed and later acquired by General Growth Properties, also major retail properties owned by Equitable Prime Property Fund including the Tri-County mall renovation and expansion in Cincinnati, OH; the South Park Mall renovation and expansion in Moline, IL.
